Feminism is the word of the year

Merriam Webster lists Feminism as the word of the year. This personally makes me enormously happy as I’ve never understood why Feminism has turned into a negative word for some.

What this means: that people are curious. That people are looking up feminism to better understand the context of the meaning, which I hope, will bring the word back to exactly what it is. simple equality.

Definition of feminism

1 : the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes
2 : organized activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests

You are right on track alliyoung. If those two points could somehow become reality, what a great year this would be! Fight the good fight.

I love that this was the word of the year! I think it’s very easy to get confused about what feminism is because there are so many different takes . . . and so many people talking about it on various platforms. It’s great that it’s getting so much attention but I understand how it can lead to confusion for some people. Just look at Urban Dictionary to see what kind of things people are equating with feminism these days. It can be downright awful!
